  IMG_1968.JPG - Gargoyle, has very functional part of the architecture of the Duomo.   In history these creatures were used as water spouts or rain gutters.  There's lots of folklore around the use of Gargoyles in architecture but I find them quite interesting to perpetually hang over the side of the building... and never fall.   The word Gargoyle has a connection to the word Throat, ... hence the word Gargle.    There you have it!   All the words are connected to the Greek!
