  IMG_8955.JPG - The name Dubrovnik, actually means Oak Trees.   Hence the typical Wooden ship.   But as we'll later learn, lots of Oak from Dubrovnik was carved for the inside of churches around the world.  And, many ships were built from the Oak which was once plentiful.      That was when I learned that the old name of Dubrovnik was Ragusa.  Meaning Rocks.     So begins some of the deep history behind this city and the people who have made it the place that it has become.
